Integral is:
~ A map
~ A perspective
~ A broad level of development
The Integral map helps you see aspects of things you might not otherwise notice, about the world, and about yourself as the “perspective-taker” on the world. www.integrallife.com
The Integral perspective is a more inclusive positioning of our subjectivity. We’re more aware of not just what’s “out there” (from the Integral map), but of the “being” that we are, which positions itself in varied ways to “enact and prehend” our situations. It is “radical co-constructivism” and a more integrated way of being in the world.
Integral as a Broad Level of Development is to some degree, developing capacities that people have when they show greater depth and breadth of personal awareness of self and others. Researchers have evidenced what people think, feel, and do at “post-conventional” levels, and many millions of people show signs of maturity beyond what we normally think of as adult functioning.
Integral, as a level of development, is not about being more mature than, and therefore better than, or more right than, others. Ironically, to consider one superior, even secretly, is a sign of immaturity, because one’s self-identity needs building up.
Striving to be only post-egoic is neither Integral nor realistic. We’re looking for the deepest good for the largest number of people, including ourselves, for whose welfare we are deeply responsible. It is a way of being. In it, the present moment is both a result of the past and yet is fresh and new.
This is what we develop, Integrally. We know we’ll never be perfect, but we want to grow. In the world, we look for order and also hold the chaos. We look to love and know that hate is part of the picture. We end up neutral and passionate, accepting but discerning, being and becoming.

What We Do at NYI:
In all the programs we offer, we include both theory and applications. We work to keep every workshop and class experiential enough to illustrate theoretical concepts and render them deeply relevant to the lived reality of the participants, in personal, relationships, and career development.
Some workshops will be scheduled well in advance, whereas others will emerge from events where further and deeper exploration is called for.
